چکیده

If the value cumulative distribution functions are strictly log-concave at the highest lower extremity of their supports, a simple geometric argument establishes the uniqueness of the equilibrium of the first-price auction in the asymmetric independent private values model.  2005 Elsevier Inc. Uniqueness and Existence of Equilibrium in Auctions with a Reserve Price

We prove existence and uniqueness of equilibrium for a general class of twoplayer bidding games. We apply our results to the first price auction, the combination of first and second price auctions, the war of attrition, the all pay auction, as well as combinations of the latter two auction forms. We also treat the first price auction without risk neutrality. Our results deal with the asymmetric...

Affiliated Common-Value Auctions with Differential Information: The Two Buyer Case

I study affiliated, pure common-value auctions with ex-ante asymmetric buyers. For the two-buyer case I characterize and prove uniqueness of the equilibrium of hybrid auctions where the payment is a weighted average of the highest and second-highest bids. A recursive method to explicitly compute the equilibrium is presented. It is shown that any hybrid auction yields at least as much revenue as...

Multiplicity of Bidding Strategies in Reverse Auctions∗

We study a reverse auction in which a buyer procures a single unit of good or service (such as a contract) from one of many competing sellers through auctions. Sellers have independent and identically distributed costs. Under certain conditions, we show the multiplicity of the symmetric equilibrium bidding strategies in the first-price reverse auction, contrasting with the well-known uniqueness...

Uniqueness in symmetric first-price auctions with affiliation

The first-price auction has a unique monotone pure strategy equilibrium when there are n symmetric risk-averse bidders having affiliated types and interdependent values.

First Price Auctions with Participation Costs∗

This paper studies equilibria of first price auctions with participation costs in the independent private values environment. We focus on the cutoff strategies in which each bidder participates and submits a bid if his value is greater than or equal to a critical value, the cutoff point. It is shown that, when bidders are homogenous, there always exists a symmetric equilibrium, and further, tha...
